I guess it had to happen sooner or later...

We hit a deer today; or rather, it hit us. The silly creatures must not see very well. This little deer ran out onto the road, collided with the driver's side mirror, folding it right up onto the window, tumbled down the side of the car, rolled a couple of times on the road and got up and ran back across the field. We were stunned. The driver's side of our beautiful Acura now has 3 or 4 soft dents along the passenger's door and rear wheel well; and the passenger's door handle is missing a piece, but otherwise no big damage - the mirror simply folds back out. If it had happened 1 second later, and we had hit the animal square on, we probably would have a bigger mess - of the car and the poor creature both! Maybe we will put those deer whistles on afterall; they may look a bit 'redneck' but anything is better than a smashed car!

Oh a happier note: Dad and I took a twilight stroll across the river tonight and discovered a million, zillion, Wild Clematis growing up trees, in fallen brush, over logs, and hanging above us. It was like a little fairy world of lavender flowers - just beautiful.

The new flowers out are Sweet Fennel, tiny pale lavender Wild Violets, something tiny and pink, and an ominous sounding flower called 'Death Camas' - I think it may be poisonous....

And here are the most pleasing and plenteous of spring flowers: Buttercups!
