We all live on the same road!

We turned left out of our driveway unto highway 93 and drove 7 pleasant hours through the most beautiful country, still on highway 93, till we reached Kimberly, B.C. Canada. We have been invited to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with our friends John and Janet.

We have secretly suspected that Montana and British Colombia are the most beautiful places in the Western United States; but that was before we saw them in the Fall. Now we are convinced! The rich oranges, yellows, reds and greens and various textures of foliage we saw today…the placid grandeur of Flathead Lake, the depth of the blue Montana ‘Big Sky’.... We must be in Heaven.

What we thought was going to be an 11 hour drive turned out to be only 7 – guess we didn’t do our homework on that one – lol. As a result we just moseyed along. We turned back to view real estate postings in nearly every small town we entered as well as a cat tail marsh which beckoned from the highway. We had ice cream and window shopped for antiques in Darby, chomped popcorn in Hamilton, shopped for blinds for the loft in Missoula, ate Thai and slept in Polson, wine tasted at the Montana Mountain Winery near Dayton, and exclaimed over the Fall Foliage from Eureka to the border. In Kimberly we ate the most amazing triple-decker club sandwiches on ‘the Platzyl’ and warm apple crumble with ice cream and coffee at Kelsys at the foot of the ski hill. It was the easiest and most delicious trip we’ve ever made.

Now we’re snugly tucked in with John and Janet in their ski hill 'cottage'and enjoying the pleasures of friendship: laughter, discussion, walks, companionable pursuits, and games. Tomorrow…turkey dinner – oh, baby!

Hey Chris, really enjoy reading your blogs. It's like being in the back seat with you and Dave, making all those trips with you both. You are definitely making the most of your life in the "slow" lane.

Darlene has a real letter in the post for you. Will you be home long enough to check the mail?
