Today's Bounty

The weather has turned definitely Fall-ish this week, very cool during the day and just above freezing at night. Being the weekend (we checked the calendar) it seemed a good time to 'take down' the garden.

Since we are newby gardeners we didn't realize carrots could be left in the ground for a couple more months, and we dug them all up. 100 lbs of them! Now we have them sitting in cool storage in the garage. We have lots to spare; Please come and get some!

We also have about a dozen large onions hanging in the garage and a whole laundry basket full of tomatoes of varying hues and sizes.

Oh! And Guess What! We have eggs! Beautiful smallish brown eggs. We discovered one per day Friday and Saturday; today there were two - Yay! We cooked the first two for breakfast today and they each had TWO yolks. These must be very happy chickens.

Here is the nesting box where we found the egg...and here is the egg!
