Here is a photo of the front of the 'big' house. The log part (left side, including door) of the house is very old. We have met at least two people in the past 3 weeks who told us they used to live in this house. One whiskery character, named Doug, said "me'n the ex-wife, we used to rent that house from Vi and Smokey; 'course, 'ol Smokey, he was gone by then".

That was before Dad added on the right end of the house which is a large and airy kitchen. Itis not very visible in this picture, but the right side of the house is fronted in beautiful river rock.

This is the view across the front yard to the old shed, which I find so very charming. It was an old Highway Department tool shed which was moved onto the property in the late '70's. The shed is in desperate need of a new roof; Dave and Dad have today gone to Hamilton and Missoula to order materials for that project.

This picture is a view of the cottage from
across the front yard, out by the highway.
The cottage is the old Highway Department administration building which was also moved on to the property. The concrete pad in front of the door has the date '1974' inscribed into it. At the left of the picture you can see the windows in the 'big house' kitchen annex. The garden is fenced in to keep the deer from feasting upon the blooms!

And here are a few pictures of the front flower gardens in the spring. These Iris are the talk of the valley and some of the same Dad dug up for Sue Usher in Gibbonsville, and Rose Marie at the Broken Arrow.
