Words I Never Thought I Would Hear

Dave and I went for our evening bike ride 'up Sheep Creek' tonight. It is a bumpy gravelly dirt road, straight up going in and straight down coming out. My back brakes aren't working very well; they never have. Dave said 'Leave it out tonight and I will work on it tomorrow.' I about fell OFF my bike.
This is a man who has always loathed fixing things, hates to scrape his knuckles. Now he's out in the sun every day, sweating while hammering on the deck, pullling apart remnants of beaver dams (this morning), messing about with the chickens and a zillion other grubby things. He seems so happy.
I think life is different if you have the time to do the things you want to do...I wonder if I might be able to get him to go fishing with me....

I, along with your other blog guests, have been enjoying this intimate ride you are having in and around Gibbonsville.

Dave fixing the bike? Amazing. I am also living with someone who keeps finding things for me to do. She has been out to get the crows of late, and while stalking them recently, spotted a few shingle nails sticking out on the roof. Nothing to worry about, really, but she was concerned that the house might be falling apart. I admit, through the binoculars they did look more like six-inch spikes. So up on the roof I go. When it comes right down to it, we'll do anything for our woman.
